Chester Berry Manor is a five-story building, with elevator, that opened in 1984 as the need for affordable housing expanded. Berry Manor is owned and operated by the Eastpointe Housing Commission with subsidies from HUD.
Berry Manor consists of 100 one-bedroom apartments. Each apartment is approximately 400 square feet in size and comes furnished with a refrigerator and stove. Gas and water are paid by EHC and the resident pays for electric and cable ( if desired) in this building.
In addition, Chester Berry Manor offers ten (10) handicapped accessible apartments for those confined to a wheelchair. These apartments have larger doorways, larger bathrooms, and lower cupboards and counter tops.
Erin Manor is a three-story building, with elevator, that opened in 1969 as part of a joint effort between the City of Eastpointe and HUD. The building is owned and operated by the Eastpointe Housing Commission with operating subsidies from HUD.
Erin Manor consists of 64 one-bedroom apartments . Each apartment is approximately 400 square foot in size and comes furnished with a frost-free refrigerator and stove. All utilities paid for by EHC in this building and the resident pays for cable ( if desired). If the resident has a window air conditioning unit installed, there is a surplus utility charge accessed that is reviewed annually.
The waiting lists for Erin and Chester Berry Manors are open and applications are available
at the Eastpointe Housing Commission office during regular business hours or will be mailed upon request.
Applicants will be placed on the wait list by date and time of application
and assigned the following preferences:
